Dr. Kerry Itami

DAcHM, LAc, EAMP

Dr. Kerry Itami is a facilitator of whole-person healing, integrating East Asian Medicine, original composition, poetry, and visual art. Her creative practice is a dialogue between rhythm, melody, and texture—bridging dissonance and harmony with the tangible depth of paint and sound.

Dr. Itami’s artistic journey spans over 20 years, beginning with classical landscapes and portraiture before evolving into the profound freedom of abstraction. Specializing in archival mixed media, she works with ink, acrylic, paper, clay, charcoal, and graphite. Her global upbringing and rich cultural heritage serve as a constant compass, guiding the layers and narratives within her work.

Clinical & Research Foundations

As the founder of One Hundred Roots, Dr. Itami established her practice to address the vital need for integrative, whole-person care. She holds a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, with clinical specializations in integrative oncology as well as osteopathic and orthopedic health.

In addition to her medical training, she holds a degree in Music Technology with a focus on composition. This unique intersection of disciplines fueled her research in brain entrainment and her current project, "Wu Yin" Music Medicine. Her neuroscience-inspired painting further explores how bottom-up visual processing can unlock intrinsic healing potentials.

Inquiry & Inspiration

When she is not with patients or in her studio, Kerry finds balance through Qigong, meditation, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Whether she is exploring molecular gastronomy, composing medicinal music for internal organs, or watching the tide on the Puget Sound, her life is a continuous practice of "painting with words" and sound.

She is the author of the poetry collection, Cherish: Precious Treasures Poetry.

Dr Itami currently lives and works in Seattle, U.S.A.
